They say you should write what you know. While I don’t really believe that’s strictly true, I do think you should draw what you know when you are pressed for time, and your attention is either wandering or is likely more interested in thoroughly studying the contours of your pillow, as mine is now.

So, I was wondering what flower I could possibly know well enough to draw with ease, without resorting to kindergarten smiley-face sunflowers, and an origami lily came to mind. Since I’ve made hundreds of origami lilies in my long history of paper-time-wasting I am familiar with the way it’s put together, and a flower sketch is born.
