Hi there! I haven’t posted a sketch yet, but I’m jumping in now. I drew this today, although it is on an old topic, Doctor Who.

It’s Christopher Eccleston, the 9th Doctor, because I love his bone structure. The initial sketch took 5 mins, and then I worked on it for 15 minutes more.

  1. Welcome aboard, Maija. And this is certainly a great way to start. This is a very evocative portrait. It makes you wonder what he’s thinking, and there’s so much detail in line and hatching to keep the eyes occupied. Well done.

  2. Hurrah! You’re here!

This is a great portrait. I recognise it as Ecclestone at once, while at the same time thinking, “That’s Maija’s work!”

Hope to see more from you soon.

  3. 20 minutes???? That’s it?????? *jaw drops to floor*
Very Nice!! Although.. personally I’m a Tennant Girl! But wouldn’t dare try to draw him because :-
    A) I would take hours
    B) I’m rubbish

  4. Thanks for the warm welcome, everyone!

Yeah, it’s twenty minutes – I have to keep these short or otherwise I won’t ever post anything! I’m glad he’s recognizable.

Candy – I like all the Doctors I’ve seen so far (8 to 11). 🙂 And they really seem to pick actors with interesting faces to the role (Eccleston/Tennant/Smith). Drawing any of them is really hard, although I’d like to try my hand at them all!

  5. Yay, Maija!

Very nice – his eyes are so expressive! Good job keeping the doodles short, I’m trying to do the same thing – it’s also great practice in quick concepts (something I have lots and lots of problems with).
